It has been seven years since the movie dropped in 2019. Seven years of radio silence, fan theories, and praying to Being X.

But the wait is finally over. Youjo Senki (Saga of Tanya the Evil) Season 2 has been officially confirmed for release in 2026.

The Devil of the Rhine is back, and she hasn't aged a day.

Studio NUT Returns (Thank God)

The biggest fear for any long-delayed sequel is a studio change (looking at you, One Punch Man). Fortunately, Studio NUT is returning to animate Season 2.

This means we can expect the same gritty, explosive, and wonderfully chaotic aerial combat that defined the first season and the movie. The visual identity of Youjo Senki—the thick lines, the expressive "madness" faces, and the sheer weight of the magic—remains in safe hands.

The Big Change: A New Director

However, there is one major shake-up. Yutaka Uemura, the director who helmed Season 1 and the Movie, is stepping down.

Taking his place is Takayuki Yamamoto.

Before you panic, Yamamoto is a veteran. He has worked on storyboards for Attack on Titan and directed Hinomaru Sumo. He knows how to handle intensity. While Uemura’s direction was iconic, Yamamoto’s experience with high-stakes action suggests that the brutality of the Federation Arc will be captured perfectly.

What to Expect?

Season 2 will dive deep into the war against the Federation (totally not Russia). Expect more political maneuvering, more misunderstandings with Being X, and Tanya leading her Salamander Kampfgruppe into even deadlier battles.

The salaryman is back to work. And this time, overtime is mandatory.

!TIP Rewatch the 2019 Movie before 2026. The transition to Season 2 will likely be seamless.
