Fashion anime usually crashes under flat direction, but Crunchyroll's January 2027 broadcast acquisition signals massive creative ambition.

Studio A-1 Pictures secured Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! breakout director Shotaro Kitamura to helm Yukino Sonoyama’s coming-of-age fashion manga BLESS. Kitamura proved he can turn standard high school interactions into kinetic visual spectacles. Giving him high-stakes makeup artistry and runway pressure transforms routine coming-of-age story into premier technical showpiece.

Technical Specs	Detail
Original Creator	Yukino Sonoyama (Kodansha)
Studio	A-1 Pictures
Format	TV Series (January 2027)
Streaming	Crunchyroll (Worldwide excluding Japan and China)

Creative Lineup Puts Substance First

Adaptation relies on precise character work. Narrative centers on Aia Utagawa, closeted aspiring makeup artist trapped in scouted model body, pairing with Jun, hunched classmate ashamed of freckles. Their target: school runway contest where technical transformation demands raw visual execution.

Kitamura leads core staff stacked with specialized talent:
- Assistant Director: Takayuki Kikuchi
- Series Composition: Fukuro Kamiza
- Character Designer: Honoka Yokoyama (VISUAL PRISON sub character design)
- Music: Ryo Yoshimata (After the Rain)

Sonoyama's manga launched January 2022 with nine volumes running in Japan alongside Kodansha USA's English localization. A-1 Pictures securing Kitamura and Yoshimata guarantees aesthetic precision over sterile seasonal filler.

Execution determines whether BLESS redefines creative identity stories or vanishes beneath industry runway spotlight.
