Yuta Okkotsu: The Executioner Arrives
We need to talk about Yuta.
In Jujutsu Kaisen 0, he was the shy, nervous protagonist. In Season 3? He is a walking horror movie. The way MAPPA animated his entrance in Episode 1—cold, precise, and utterly terrifying—sets the tone for the entire season. When he says, "I will kill Yuji Itadori," you believe him.
The cinematography during the bridge fight scene was absurd. The lighting, the impact frames, the sheer weight of Rika's presence... it’s clear that the production team (who probably haven't slept in a week) is pouring everything into this.
Hakari Kinji: The Gambling Addict We Deserve
Episode 3 gave us our first proper look at Hakari Kinji, and the "Fever" energy is real.
His animation style feels distinct—rougher, grittier, almost like a street brawl compared to the polished sorcery of the Gojo clan. The "Fight Club" aesthetic of his introduction was perfect. For those who haven't read the manga: buckle up. His Cursed Technique is going to break the internet (and probably the subtitles).
Is MAPPA Okay? (Probably Not, But It Looks Good)
The animation quality in these first four episodes is suspiciously high.
The "Perfect Preparation" arc usually gets skimmed over, but the Zenin Clan massacre (oops, minor spoiler?) looks like it’s getting movie-level treatment. The compositing has improved significantly since Season 2, with less "ghosting" and cleaner character models.
Whatever bloody pact MAPPA made to keep this quality up while also producing Chainsaw Man and Hell's Paradise, it’s working.
!WARNINGViewer Discretion: This arc is violent. Like, really violent. If you're squeamish about body horror, maybe watch Spy x Family instead.
Verdict: Peak Fiction is Back
We are only a few episodes in, and the tension is already suffocating. With the Culling Game rules established and the players entering the colony, the chaos is about to scale up exponentially.
Stop reading this. Go watch it.
